Government to go by Patna High Court order on Badh Chala Bihar campaign: Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state government would abide by the Patna High Court order putting an interim ban on use of pictures of chief minister and ministers in the state government's ' Badh Chala Bihar' campaign and when required it would put its view in the court.

"We'll abide by the Patna High Court order. Whenever the state government would feel the need it would present its view in the court on the issue," Kumar told reporters when asked to comment on the High Court verdict on the campaign.

A two-member bench of Chief Justice L Narasimha Reddy and Anjana Mishra yesterday had passed the order prohibiting display of pictures of chief minister and his ministers in the state government's ambitious 'Badh Chala Bihar' (BCB) campaign.

The order followed a writ petition filed by 'Nagarik Adhikar Manch' convener and RTI activist Shiv Prakash Rai accusing the state government of misusing public money in the name of campaign for publicity of the ruling Janata Dal (United).

The campaign "Bihar@2025" was launched by the chief minister in early June this year to make people aware of government's work in the past 10 years and elicit views of citizens to prepare a vision document for good governance for the next 10 years.

The state Assembly elections are expected to be held later this year.
