Government stable as it has the numbers: Rajiv Shukla

Rajiv Shukla today said the govt continued to be stable as it had the numbers and accused BJP of trying to take advantage of the situation.

NEW DELHI: Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla today said the government continued to be stable as it had the numbers and accused BJP of trying to take advantage of the situation.

Shukla was speaking in the backdrop of Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee's decision to pull out of UPA and the possibility of her demands for roll back of diesel price hike and curbs on subsidised LPG and allowing of FDI into multi- brand retail are not met.

"The government is stable but BJP is trying to take advantage of the situation. I would appeal to all secular forces and political parties not to allow BJP to take advantage of the situation because assembly election in Gujarat is round the corner," Shukla told reporters.

He said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would be the ultimate beneficiary of any political instability that the country may face.

"Narendra Modi will be the beneficiary of political instability. We should not allow this," Shukla added.
