PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Administration has sought the approval of the Centre for setting up a Commission for Welfare of the differently abled in the Union Territory.

"A detailed report has been sent to the Home Ministry seeking its nod for creation of the commission...", Chief Minister N Rangasamy said at the celebration of the International Day of Persons with disabilities here.

Rangasamy gave away cash awards and also certificates to various persons and students in recognition of their proficiency in various events on the occasion.

Welfare Minister P.Rajavelu and AIADMK Deputy Legislature party leader A Anbalagan were present.
