The Culture Ministry is in consultation with the Information and Broadcating Ministry for the proposed 24-hour-channel that is expected to be launched soon, a source said.
The channel will air the live performances, he said, adding there are thousands of recorded programmes with the various organisations of the Ministry which would also be telecasted.
Currently, the Ministry showcase various programmes through its website under 15 categories, including 'Sanskriti Natya', 'Sanskriti Sahitya', 'Sanskriti Shiksha', 'Sanskriti International', 'Sanskriti Nritya Sangeet', and 'Sanskriti Kala Darshan'.
But the web-telecast reach being limited, the Ministry proposes to launch the channel that will have wider audience.
The name of the channel that will be launched is yet to be decided but it could be 'DD Sanskriti', the source said.
The move is in line with various ministries, including Human Resource Development and Agriculture, having dedicated channels for them.
