Government planning to ammend Atomic Energy Act

In a written response to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Atomic Energy, Jitendra Singh said, the government is mulling over making changes in the Atomic Energy Policy.
"Proposals for amendments to the Atomic Energy Act, 1962 will be presented for obtaining approval of the Cabinet after inter-ministerial consultations," Singh said.
In a response to another question, he said adequate storage capacity to stock uranium has been created, with potential for expanding the capacity as needed, at the Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC).
An NFC exists at Hyderabad, while the second NFC is coming up at Rawathbhata in Kota.
In a response to another question, Singh said there was no proposal to amend or modify the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act 2010, with reference to clause 46, which is being raised by several international and domestic suppliers.
