Government not disclosing names as senior Cong leaders involved: BJP
BJP today alleged that the government was not revealing the names of the 700 Indians who have bank accounts in tax havens abroad.
"The names of some senior Congress leaders are involved here and so the government is not revealing the names.... We want to know what problem does the Congress-led government have in disclosing the names of the account holders in banks in Switzerland and tax havens abroad," BJP spokesperson Jagat Prakash Nadda said.
He insisted that now when countries like Germany were ready to cooperate in sharing names of account holders, the government should get the names.
The BJP attacked Congress President Sonia Gandhi for what it alleged "lack of political will and commitment" to fight corruption.
"BJP feels that instead of checking corruption it is actually growing with the support of Sonia Gandhi. Congress is the mother of corruption. It is not ready to fight corruption and is encouraging it," Nadda said.
The main opposition also hit out at the Congress slogan of "zero tolerance" towards corruption, saying it has "zero tolerance towards those who are raising their voice against corruption".
Targeting Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, Nadda said he was "spokesperson" of Sonia Gandhi and was always trying to sabotage every movement against corruption.
"He is trying to frustrate all attempts to fight corruption be it by NGOs, religious organisations, political organisations or political individuals," Nadda said.
