Government issues SOPs for this festive season

Planning the events
The Union Health Ministry has issued guidelines for the upcoming festive season. In its guideline, the ministry said that events should be planned with staggered timings. Event organisers have to install thermal scanners, supply sanitisers, and use markers to ensure physcial distancing. Besides, there should be adequate space with proper ventilation, as per the guidelines.

But not in Containment zones
However, the Health Ministry in its guidelines has said that events and festivals should not be organised in containment zones. Govt has also advised that vulnerable people like pregnant women, elderly and those with co-morbidities to celebate festivals at home, especially if they are in restricted areas.

Dos and Don'ts
As per the guidelines, people have to wear masks while attending festivals. Of course you have to maintain physical distancing. But more importantly, govt in its SOP said, people should refrain from touching idols or holy books to prevent the spread of infection.

No big processions
There is a limit on the number of persons who can attend in rallies and processions also. Govt in its SOP said that the rallies and processions should be kept within manageable limits. Also, the govt has advised keeping the support of ambulance services on alert.

What else?
Given the Covid threat, govt has advised against choir or singing groups during events. Community kitchens such as langars are allowed though. However, they have been told to adhere to the highest level of hygiene both while preparing and serving meals. Eateries are allowed as well.
