The Shiv Sena (Uddhav group) said on Tuesday that the Chinese incursion in India's Tawang was a result of the Indian government focusing more on opposition parties, winning elections and "using" central agencies rather than focusing on the border.

"The country's rulers should give less time to politics to winning elections, (targeting) opposition parties or (using) central agencies. They (government) were enjoying the aftermath of the Gujarat polls victory, they made it (victory) into a festival and how everyone should be celebrating the festival," said Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha member and spokesman Sanjay Raut. "Unfortunately, even national security was made into a festival and the Chinese entered taking advantage of this. It would be better for the country if the government pays more attention to national security than on other issues."

Raut also questioned the timing of the Chinese incursion and alluded to whether it had anything to do with the Gujarat election. "The Chinese incursion happened right after the Gujarat elections. Were they (China) asked to be quiet till then?" he said.
