Government employees observe strike

On a call given by Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions several Government and bank employees (barring SBI) today observed complete strike in protest against the alleged anti-employees policies of government.

JALANDHAR: On a call given by Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions several Government and bank employees (barring SBI) today observed complete strike in protest against the alleged anti-employees policies of government.

The strike was main supported by the trade unions affiliated to left parties and services in financial sectors including Bank and LIC remained paralyzed due to strike. Employees of Punjab Roadways, PSEB and BSNL also joined the agitation organized at several places in the city and raised anti-government slogans.

"Government should take proper measures to control inflation, Public Distribution system should be improved, wrong decisions taken against trade unions should be revised back, Wage Revised Due pending bills should be immediately passed and provisions of Labour Laws should be properly implemented" Amrit Lal, trade union leader said while addressing the protestors.

He claimedoday more that ten crore government employees were on strike and if government would still not pay any heed to their demands to fulfill their demands, consequences would be disastrous in future and union government would be responsible for the same.
