NEW DELHI: Allahabad High Court today said government can't deny an individual his rights to have non-veg food.

The court made the statement while hearing nearly 27 pleas filed against the Uttar Pradesh government after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's crackdown on illegal abattoirs.

According to reports, the court has directed the state government to commission new licences and renew old ones.

The court said that those whose licence has been expired and those who want a new licence could apply to the food safety department.

The court has asked the state government to solve the crisis as soon as possible.
