Government ads for 2,500 'non-existing' vacancies, a cruel joke: BJP

DEHRADUN: Opposition BJP in Uttarakhand today accused the state government of advertising 2,500 vacancies in different departments where there were no such vacant posts and termed it as a cruel joke with the unemployed youth.

"The state government advertised 2,500 vacancies in different government departments recently for which hundreds of unemployed youth applied. But later it turned out that there were no vacancies in these departments," Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Ajay Bhatt told reporters here.

Terming it as a cruel joke with the unemployed youth of the state, he said the state government first raised their hopes and then callously shattered them.

Blaming Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who holds the charge of all departments in the state for the faux pas, Bhatt said it was unfortunate that despite being at the helm of affairs, he was not aware of the status of vacancies in the departments under him.

Rawat holds the charge of all departments currently with portfolios yet to be allotted among his cabinet colleagues.
