Just like his predecessor Jagdeep Dhankhar, who visited the victims of political violence across Bengal in 2021, Bose visited the trouble-torn Rishra area and spoke to the Railway officials, police and then visited the SSKM hospital where the injured were admitted. He had cut short his visit to North Bengal and returned to Kolkata on Tuesday morning.
"It is a fact-finding and verification visit. First, I will see, analyse and assess and then solid action will be taken by the law enforcement agency," the Governor told mediapersons. "We will never allow miscreants and hooligans to take the law into their hands. Police will come down heavily on them. They will be brought to book," he said. Both the governors -- Dhankhar and Bose -- have a different style of functioning. While Dhankhar was critical in his stance and spoke directly against the state government and tweeted on all that happened, Bose has maintained a silence on certain issues and has followed the rule book, experts told ET.
Bose also emphasised on collective responsibility and said "it is time for everybody to join hands and work for the welfare of the common people", in the context of the violence in the state.
