Gorkhas, excluded from NRC, not to move to Foreigners Tribunal

BGP, the apex body of Gorkhas across the country stated that it is an insult for the community to approach foreigner’s tribunals.

GUWAHATI: Gorkhas who were excluded in final National Register of Citizens (NRC) have resolved not to approach to foreigners Tribunal tribunals to prove their citizenship.

Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha (BGP), the apex body of Gorkhas across the country stated that it is an insult for the community to approach foreigner’s tribunals.

BGP stated that around one lakh Gorkhas failed to make it to final NRC published on August 31.


Supreme Court monitored final list of NRC left around 19,06,657 people and after getting certified copies of rejection these people may be able move foreigners tribunal for further claim.

BGP national president Sukhman Moktan said on Sunday, “Gorkhas will not go to Foreigners Tribunal. This is an insult to Indian Citizen".
