West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a five-day visit to North Bengal, said in in Darjeeling, “I have met four regional political parties. Within two months, the GTA election will be conducted. Hamro party, Anit Thapa’s newly formed party, Trinamool all are willing to participate in the election. Bimal Gurung faction of GJM Roshan Giri has some proposals and suggestions, while others are willing to hold the elections. I have sought his proposal. Within two-three months GTA elections will be completed.” It is pertinent to mention that after ten years, GTA election will be held this year.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is on a five-day visit to North Bengal. Banerjee met with representatives of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, Hamro Party and Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha, formed by Anit Thapa, among others.
“There are two-tier rural bodies existing (gram panchayat and panchayat samiti) in the Hills. We have requested the Centre to implement the three-tier rural body system, which is present all across the state. We can hold the three-tier rural body polls in the Hills,” Banerjee added.
After the meeting with the CM, Roshan Giri said, “We want a permanent solution. We are not supporting the BJP.”
