Gogoi invites IT sector to explore Assam as potential hub

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Kumar Gogoi on Friday invited IT companies and premier educational institutes of Karnataka to set up their branches in Assam.

BANGALORE: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Kumar Gogoi on Friday invited IT companies and premier educational institutes of Karnataka to set up their branches in Assam.

"Some IT companies like Infosys, Wipro had evinced some interest and I have assured these companies that in case they decide to open up branches in Assam, the government would extend all the required facilities", Gogoi, who was on a visit to the city, told reporters here.

Gogoi, who made a brief visit to various companies, including some of the other leading educational institutions like the Indian Institute of Science , said that he had invited the IT sector to explore the potentiality of developing Assam as an IT hub.

"We have educated, English-speaking manpower, which is one of the requirements of this sector", he said.

"We are ready to extend all necessary help and facilities required for these companies interested in setting up their branches. We will also offer various incentives to these companies and institutions", he added.
