Gogoi for keeping pace with developments in IT sector

State govt had allocated Rs 1000 cr for higher education in the state changing the scenario in the last ten years with many institutes of national importance

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister TarunGogoi on Monday said that the state would have to keep pace with the development in the field of Information Technology which had brought about revolutionary changes in the world.

"IIITG is the first among the 20 such institutes to have come up in a private-public partnership mode and this is a new concept with the state government having a 35 per cent stake, central government 57.5 per cent and private sector 7.5 per cent, Gogoi said while inaugurating the first academic session of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (IIITG).

The state government had allocated Rs 1000 crore for higher education in the state changing the scenario in the last ten years with many institutes of national importance coming up in the private and public sectors, Gogoi said.

Gogoi said the new institute would not have come up without the support of IIT, Guwahati as mentor institute.

Dr S Senthilvelan, Admission In-charge of IIITG and Chairman, JEE Mains 2013, Dr S Senthilvelan said that students would get utmost care and attention from the vastly experienced faculty members.
