PANAJI: The Goa Transport department has directed its officers to issue a challan to Chief Information Commissioner ( CIC) Prashant Tendolkar for illegally using red beacon on his official car.

Responding to a complaint filed against Tendolkar by social activist Aires Rodrigues, Transport department's deputy director Prakash Azavedo has directed the subordinate officers to detect the vehicle for using red beacon illegally and issue him the challan.

Rodrigues had two days back lodged the complaint with state Chief Secretary R K Srivastava and Directorate of Transport against the CIC for using red beacon car.

"Chief Information Commissioner Prashant Tendolkar is illegally and blatantly using red beacon on his official car in clear defiance of law and amounting to gross contempt of Supreme Court's order," Rodrigues had stated in the complaint.

"It is surprising that law enforcement officers who are fully aware about this violation have failed to take action against Tendolkar only because he is politically well connected," he had alleged.

Tendolkar was unavailable for comments on the matter.
