Goa to make presentation before PM seeking special status

PANAJI: Goa will make a special presentation before Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh seeking special status for the state.

"I have asked Chief Secretary J P Singh to make the presentation that will be shown to the Prime Minister in next 10 to 15 days," Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat told reporters here.

The recently concluded state legislative assembly session had unanimously adopted a resolution seeking special status to Goa.

Kamat said that he will also lead all party delegation to Delhi to press for the special status demand.

Goa assembly had recently passed a resolution that the state should get special status to protect its unique identity.
