Goa govt will formally present a report to PM seeking his nod for a greenfield international airport at Mopa in North Goa.

This would be the second airport in the tourist state, which is already
equipped with an international airport at Dabolim.
"I will be presenting the report requesting for the airport at Mopa to the
Prime Minister," Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat said.
The international airport at Mopa ran into controversy after a certain
Alemao opposed the project.
Worries were raised that the Mopa airport will force closure of existing
Dabolim airport, which will adversely affect the tourism industry in South
Goa.
Alemao, in his extensive campaign, had laid allegations that Mopa project,

feasibility of the airport, on May 30, had given its green signal for the
Mopa airport.
The CM-led committee had based its conclusion on the findings of
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which had stressed the
need for additional airport for the state due to increasing air traffic.
Kamat said that he would submit the report prepared by the committee to the
PM, who will take further stand on the issue.
