PANAJI: Goa government has issued directives that all buses, including those of state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited ( KTCL), which are more than 15 years old should be scrapped in a phased manner.

Director of Transport Sunil Masurkar issued the direction, aimed to do away with private and KTCL buses which are running for over 15 years.

The order, a copy of which is with PTI, also mentions that buses which are 15-20 years old should be replaced by March 2021.

The 20-year-old and above buses should be replaced by March 31 next year. Those running for 18 years and above will have to be replaced by March 31, 2018, while those over 17 years old will be scrapped by 2019 March end.

As per the state government's modified private bus subsidy scheme of 2012, which has enhanced subsidy for buses of various carrying capacities, only those buses with minimum 37 seating capacity would be eligible for it.
