Goa government neck deep in mining scam: Kalraj Mishra

BJP national vice-president Kalraj Mishra said that the multi-crore mining scam is a fallout of the "political patronage" by the Congress government.

PANAJI: Accusing the Digambar Kamat-led Goa government of being neck deep in the illegal mining scam, a senior BJP leader today said the state government has no right to remain in power.

BJP national vice-president Kalraj Mishra said that the multi-crore mining scam is a fallout of the "political patronage" by the Congress government.

"There is a huge loss of revenue to the state exchequer. In such circumstances, the government has no right to continue ruling," Mishra said.

"This scam is just another scam of UPA government," he said, alleging that every member of the state cabinet, including Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, has been involved in the illegalities.

The Opposition BJP has already demanded Kamat's resignation in the wake of the multi-crore scam, which is being investigated by Justice M B Shah Commission.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the state Legislative Assembly is in its final stage to prepare the report on instances of illegal mining.
