Goa BJP boycotting R-Day reception by Governor
The Goa unit of the BJP has decided to boycott the Republic Day reception hosted by Governor S C Jamir this evening.
"We have already made it clear that we will not attend his (Governor's) public functions," Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar told PTI today on the sidelines of the Republic Day parade held here.
Goa's main opposition BJP decided to boycott the Governor while planning a fortnight-long campaign against him throughout the state.
Also, the BJP's Yuva Morcha earlier announced their plans to show black flags to the Governor during his public functions but opted to stay away from private gatherings.
The BJP is upset with Jamir, alleging that his role during the recent political crisis in the state was "dubious".
"We will not protest or boycott the functions where he is required to be present as the Governor of the state or his private functions," Parrikar clarified adding, in the "rest of the functions, the Governor will be greeted with black flags by Yuva Morcha".
Earlier, the Governor took the salute in the parade which was attended by Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, Leader of Opposition Parrikar, Ministers and others.
