Globalisation cannot be stopped: Buddha
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Monday said government was close to finalising an alternative land acquisition and rehabilitation policy for industry.
The marxist Chief Minister said globalisation is a reality and one cannot stop the process.
Addressing the annual general meeting of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Bhattacharjee, said "we must formulate a very clear land acquisition and rehabliation policy as we have to protect the evicted people."
He expressed the hope that with the continuing focus on industrilisation wealth can be taken to the poor with higher growth rate in the state which is at present eight per cent.
Bhattacharjee said the number of investment proposals in 2008 would surpass those of 2007 despite "our confrontation with controversies relating to land acquisition".
The Chief Minister also said the government had almost completed the formalities for a chemical hub at Nayachar in East Midnapore district.
"We also hope to finalise the deep sea port this year and the elevated rail project is awaiting the Centre's approval," he said.
