Global conference on religions in Indore from October 24

Almost all preparations have been completed for the three-day international conference on 'Harmony of Religions: Welfare of Mankind', being held under the aegis of Sanchi University of Buddhist and Indic Studies, a Madhya Pradesh Government official said today.
"All preparations for holding the conference have been almost completed," Culture Department Principal Secretary Manoj Shrivastava told reporters here.
The event aims at promoting unity, peace and welfare through religions, according to Sanchi University Registrar Rajesh Gupta.
He said Bhutan Foreign Minister Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Kanchi math pontiff Jayendra Saraswathi would take part in the inaugural session.
Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will grace the concluding function of the conference, Gupta said.
He said 1,000 people, 100 of them religious leaders drawn from different parts of the world, including US, Japan, China and Sri Lanka, are expected to take part in the event.
The global meet is being organised by the Raisen-based Sanchi University in association with Madhya Pradesh Culture Department and India Foundation, New Delhi.
