"We want a tripartite meeting on our demand and (External Affairs Minister) Pranab Mukherjee had yesterday spoken of talks. The problem is a political one and we want a political solution", GJM general secretary Roshan Giri told the media.
He said GJM was not invited by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to the all-party meeting on their demand on June 17 but the leadership was contemplating a parallel all-party meeting soon.
The decision was taken yesterday at a meeting of GJM's central committee where Bimal Gurung and all GJM unit secretaries were present.
Giri said relay hunger strikes would be also be organised from tomorrow all over the hills to coincide with the bandh with batches of seven GJM members undertaking the fast alternately.
Giri said the Dooars and Siliguri would be exempted from the bandh.
