Give permanent Governor to Assam: Tarun Gogoi to PM Narendra Modi
GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint a permanent Governor in the State. Gogoi has said that if his plea is not heard, he will move President of India.

"I urge the Prime Minister once again to appoint a permanent Governor for Assam as early as possible as Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya is holding additional charge of Assam for more than a year," Gogoi said.

Gogoi said that it is unfortunate that an acting Governor is running the affairs in an important State like Assam. “He (Acharya) is just an acting Governor. No permanent Governor has been appointed so far for a long time and that too for an important State like Assam. By doing this, the Central Government is doing grave injustice to Assam,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that if the Prime Minister does not heed to his plea for a permanent Governor soon, he would take up the matter with the President of India.
