Give farmers respect they deserve: RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale

RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Saturday said that while doubling the income of farmers was a great move, there should be no compromise on the dignity of people involved in farming, and both society and the government, at every level, should give them the social respect they deserve. He also said that essentials have to be affordable for everyone so that nobody is malnourished, but farmers should not have to bear the brunt of it.

Hosabale was speaking at an international conference organised by the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh along with Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Bharatiya Agro Economic Research Centre will organise an international conference on best features of Bharatiya agricultural practices.

"The thing that I see going down is the social status of a farmer in the society. Even in government functions at the lowest level, I have seen lawyers and school principals being invited but not the farmer," he said.
