Gillani non-committal on Musharraf’s fate

Set to become Pakistan’s new prime minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani vowed to restore the supremacy of Parliament but remained non-committal on president Pervez Musharraf’s fate.

Islamabad: Set to become Pakistan���s new prime minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani vowed to restore the supremacy of Parliament but remained non-committal on president Pervez Musharraf���s fate. ���Parliament is a reflection of the people and their aspirations. We will work for the supremacy of Parliament.

We will make Parliament supreme in policy-making,��� he told reporters shortly after filing his nomination papers for Monday���s contest which he is set to win. Replying to a question on whether he would maintain a working relationship with Mr Musharraf or ask him to step down, Mr Gillani merely said: ���I���ll follow the Constitution.���
