General V K Singh takes charge of Statistics Ministry

Singh replaced Rao Inderjit Singh as Statistics Minister. He will continue to be Minister of State in both External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs Ministries.

General V K Singh takes charge of Statistics Ministry
NEW DELHI: Gen V K Singh today took charge as Minister of Statistics & Programme Implementation (Independent charge).

"After taking charge this evening, he held meetings with officials of the Ministry and discussed the way forward for making the functioning of the ministry more effective," an official statement said.

Singh replaced Rao Inderjit Singh as Statistics Minister. He will continue to be Minister of State in both External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs Ministries.

The General was in-charge of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Jitender Singh is the new DoNER Minister.

A former Army chief, Gen V K Singh had won the Ghaziabad seat in UP defeating Raj Babbar of Congress in the last Lok Sabha elections.
