AZAMGARH: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today filed his nomination for Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat which will go to polls on May 12 in the last round of the nine-phased Lok Sabha elections.

Yadav, who has entered the fray from Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency on April four where voting will be held tomorrow, submitted his documents for Azamgarh seat to District Election Officer Nina Sharma.

"I will not leave Mainpuri seat after winning polls. I am contesting from Azamgarh due to pressure of party workers.

"As BJP leader Narendra Modi is in fray from Varanasi, party workers wanted me to counter him by contesting from Azamgarh," Yadav said after filing his papers.

The Samajwadi Party also held a roadshow in the city which culminated at the ITI ground where the SP president addressed party workers.

BJP candidate Ramakant Yadav also filed his papers for Azamgarh seat today.
