Gauhati High Court orders status quo with regard to Tarun Gogoi's security cover

Gauhati High court has directed to maintain status quo with regard to the security cover of former Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi.

Gogoi’s security cover recently was brought down from Z plus with CRPF cover category to Z.

Gogoi had alleged that his security cover was downgraded as he is a vocal critic of the BJP-led government. Gogoi had moved the High Court.


Atul Chandra Buragohain, who appeared for Gogoi in the court told ET, “ The Court has asked the government to maintain status quo and submit report by February 12. During the period the court has asked the government to file affidavit.”

In 2016 after Gogoi faced defeat at the hands of the BJP in Assam, Gogoi’s security cover was scaled down from Z Plus security cover with NSG to Z plus with CRPF cover.
