Gauhati HC dismisses review petition for resumption of mobile internet

Gauhati High Court on Friday dismissed the review petition filed by the state government asking the court to review its order of resumption of mobile internet.

Mobile internet resumed in Assam on 9 am on Friday.

Guwahati: Gauhati High Court on Friday dismissed the review petition filed by the state government asking the court to review its order of resumption of mobile internet. On Thursday, High Court directed the Assam government to restore mobile internet services at 5 pm.

However mobile internet resumed in Assam on 9 am on Friday. The mobile internet ban started on December 11.

A senior official in the state government stated, "We have filed a review petition to the Gauhati High court seeking to review its order on restoration of mobile internet today. However our prayer for review was dismissed."


After the resumption of internet, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) GP Singh tweeted, "Friends, the mobile internet services are being restored to enable people to go about life in a normal manner. Please be wise in writing, forwarding posts on various social media platforms. Let's build a stronger Assam together. Looking forward to continued support."
