Gau puja, math visit: Top players seek divine blessings for big battle

Top leaders of the parties sought to sought divine blessings on Saturday morning just before the polling process for the Karnataka Assembly elections was set in motion.

BENGALURU: They had given it their all during the hot and bitter campaign that stretched across the last few weeks and on D-day they did't want to leave anything to chance.

Top leaders of the parties sought to sought divine blessings on Saturday morning just before the polling process for the Karnataka Assembly elections was set in motion.

Before leaving to vote, BJP's chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa with his party workers went to offer prayers at the 'Sankata Vimochana Anjaneya' at Shikaripura in his constituency.


His colleague and party heavyweight B Sriramulu , who is contesting in two places -- Badami, opposite CM Siddaramaiah, and Molakalmuru - performed a gau pooja in the morning.

ANI tweeted a picture of Sriramulu clad in saffron and worshipping the holy cow early morning before leaving to cast his vote.

HD Kumaraswamy, the chief ministerial candidate of (JD-S), met Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswami of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math in Jayanagar before polling.

Adi Chunchanagiri is an important religious seat linked to the powerful Vokkaliga community. A Vokkaliga himself, Kumaraswamy and his party JD(S) mainly bank on Vokkaligas and minorities.
