"Gandhi versus Gandhi": Priyanka asks Varun to read Gita

Priyanka Gandhi ticked off her cousin Varun for his anti-Muslim speeches.

RAE BARELI: In rare comments against the member of the other Gandhi family, Priyanka Gandhi on Monday ticked off her cousin Varun for his anti-Muslim speeches and asked him to read the Gita and try to understand it properly.

"Well, it may be very sad to see him saying those comments on television and what can I say? I would advise him to read the Gita properly and to try to understand it properly," she said here in between her campaign for her brother Rahul in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

This is one of the rare occasions when a member Sonia Gandhi's family has made public comments against Varun. Sonia had greeted Varun's entry into politics a few years and had wished him all the best.

Priyanka also said what Gandhi said in his speeches clearly went against all the principles that the family has stood for and the members of the family lived and died for.

She made it clear that she would not not enter politics and she was here only to manage the election campaign of her brother and mother Sonia. She was asked if she would campaign for other party candidates.

Priyanka also advised the party workers to follow the model code of conduct in letter and spirit. "This is important for democracy and they should adhere by it," she said.
