Gajendra Chauhan yet to receive joining letter, visit FTII campus
NEW DELHI: Despite the Centre making it amply clear that it will not go back on Gajendra Chauhan’s appointment at chairman of FTII, the BJP member has not even visited the campus of the Film and Television Institute of India even once in the last 55 days, where the students are on a strike against his appointment.

Chauhan told ET on Tuesday that he wanted the matter to be resolved and his joining letter to be issued; only then will he take charge.

“The ministry has not issued my joining letter. There are some issues between the students and the ministry which need to be resolved first. I will take charge as soon as that happens.”

Ministry officials said Chauhan has been asked to start work on campus, convene the society meeting, form the governing council and start sending reports but he has been putting it off. “In these cases, once the notification is out the chairperson takes charge and starts sending reports from the institute about its functioning. There are no other letters issued. It will be better if Chauhan too makes an attempt to go to the campus and starts interacting with students but that is not happening.”
