G E Vahanvati appointed Attorney General

NEW DELHI: Senior advocate Goolam E Vahanvati was on Monday appointed as the new Attorney General, the country's top law officer.

Vahanvati, who was the Solicitor General during the previous UPA government, has been appointed to the post for a period of three years, official sources said.

Vahanvati's elevation was expected as he was the frontrunner for the post.
