The world’s eight most industrialised nations have expressed their resolve to “reinforce” their nuclear partnership with India by encouraging New Delhi to integrate into the non-proliferation mainstream.

ST PETERSBURG: The world’s eight most industrialised nations have expressed their resolve to “reinforce” their nuclear partnership with India by encouraging New Delhi to integrate into the non-proliferation mainstream.

A G-8 declaration on nuclear non-proliferation adopted by the group’s leaders here says, “We look forward to reinforcing our partnership with India.

“We note the commitments India has made, and encourage India to take further steps towards integration into the mainstream of strengthening the non-proliferation regime, to facilitate a more forthcoming approach towards nuclear cooperation to address its energy requirements, in a manner that enhances and reinforces the global non-proliferation regime,” it said.
