Fruit-laden trucks leave Kashmir

As many as 201 trucks laden with fruit left Kashmir valley for various destinations outside Jammu and Kashmir in the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said here on Sunday.


SRINAGAR : As many as 201 trucks laden with fruit left Kashmir valley for various destinations outside Jammu and Kashmir in the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said here on Sunday.

A total of 628 trucks and tankers including 201 laden with fruit left the valley for various destinations outside the state in the 24 hours till 2 pm today, the spokesman said.

He said traffic on the 300-km Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road linking Kashmir with rest of the country, was going on smoothly as 599 load carriers with essentials and fuel arrived in the valley in the same period.

He said 72 carried rice, 37 flour, six fresh fruit, 21 chicken, 368 other commodities while 28 tankers with diesel, six with kerosene and 34 empty trucks entered the valley.
