Love knows no boundaries and so does bollywood. Twitter learned it in the cutest way possible when Raveesh Kumar, Official Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs posted this video of Sushma Swaraj with a Uzbek woman singing ichak dana bichak dana from the classic ‘Shree 420’.

In his tweet he said “Bollywood knows no boundaries! More so in Uzbekistan where Raj kapoor and Nargis are household names. Salute to this Uzbek woman for her spirit as she hums the song ‘ichak dana bichak dana' from the classic Shri 420!”




External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj is on a three-nation tour to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as part of India's efforts to boost strategic partnership with the resource-rich Central Asian nations.

Interestingly the familiarity with ‘ichak dana bichak dana' among foreigners is not new to India. During Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s maiden visit in January 2018, when Prime Minister Modi hosted the lunch for his counterpart the same song was played by live band. Sharing the anecdote Vijay Gokhale, MEA Secretary in a press briefing said “Interesting anecdote was that during lunch which PM hosted short while ago, one of the music items played by live band was 'Ichak Dana Bichak Dana'. Number of Israelis who knew that was amazing. Films a good way to building people to people relationships”
