Fresh trouble at Nandigram

In a fresh outbreak of violence, two villagers were injured during an exchange of fire between two groups at the troubled border between Nandigram and the adjoining CPI(M) stronghold of Khejuri in East Midnapore district.


KOLKATA: In a fresh outbreak of violence, two villagers were injured during an exchange of fire between two groups at the troubled border between Nandigram and the adjoining CPI(M) stronghold of Khejuri in East Midnapore district.

The police said that the trouble started late last night with firing and bombs being hurled from Khejuri which was retaliated by the Trinamool Congress-backed Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) at Nandigram.

Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Raj Kanojia said that the violence continued till afternoon. The villagers injured in the attack were from Takapura and Jalpai areas, sources said.
