Fresh data out on top politicians' assets; here are account details of some of them

Fresh financial details about some of India's netas have been revealed after they filed their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections. It may be noted here that while filing nomination papers for contesting in elections, aspiring candidates have to make public such details as names, addresses, party affiliations and assets.

Here follows an account of the assets held by a few of the country's frontline politicians:

Sonia Gandhi
The Congress leader recently filed her nomination for a Rajya Sabha, having earlier announced that she would not be contesting the coming Lok Sabha elections in view of health issues.


According to her affidavit, she has Rs 90,000 in cash. The total value of assets held by Sonia Gandhi stands at Rs 12,53,76,822.

Jaya Bachchan
Jaya Bachchan is seeking her fifth term in the Upper House. He owns an eye-popping Rs 1,578 crore along with her husband, film legend Amitabh Bachchan.

Praful Patel
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) bigwig declared total assets worth Rs 450 crore (including both movable and immovable assets) while filing his nomination papers.

Patel is a frontline figure in the NCP. In his long career, he has served as a Member of Parliament in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Ashok Chavan
Ashok Chavan, an old Congress hand from Maharashtra, recently grabbed national headlines after switching to the BJP. He has formerly served as the chief minister of the state.

Chavan has declared a net worth of Rs 68 crore -- comprising both movable and immovable assets.

Milind Deora
Milind Deora, a prominent face of Maharashtra Congress until recently, has ditched his old party for the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). He has been nominated for the Upper House by his new party.

As per data, Deora's assets are valued at Rs 134 crore.

Meda Raghunadha Reddy
YSRCP's Meda Raghunadha Reddy owns assets worth Rs 475 crore.

YV Subbareddy
YV Subbareddy, also from YSRCP, has reported a net worth of Rs 118 crore.

Golla Baburao
Golla Baburao, another politician belonging to YSRCP, has Rs 4.19 crore.
