Fresh batch of 2,556 pilgrims leave for Amarnath yatra
JAMMU: The fresh batch comprising 2,556 pilgrims today left from the base camp here to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas amid tight security.

The batch, with 1,888 men, 492 women, 26 children and 150 sadhus, left in a cavalcade of 70 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 04:57 AM, a police official said.

The convoy of the yatra has already reached Kud at 10 AM on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

With today's batch, as many as 22,465 pilgrims have so far left from Jammu base camp for Amarnath shrine.
