French Minister visits India to prepare for Modi's August trip

This is the first French ministerial visit after the formation of the new Indian government.

NEW DELHI: Jean Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, will visit India on Monday to prepare for PM Narendra Modi’s participation at G-7 Summit in August where India has been invited.

This is the first French ministerial visit after the formation of the new Indian government. The visit of Minister Lemoyne will acknowledge the reinforcement of the Indo-French relationship and will lay the groundwork for the visit of Modi, to France, on the occasion of the G7 Summit in Biarritz in August.

During his visit, Minister of State Lemoyne will call on Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. The meeting will focus on the further deepening of the Indo-French strategic partnership and its contribution to a more stable and sustainable world governance.


Minister of State Lemoyne will also meet V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to discuss bilateral trade, investment and cooperation in the field of urban affairs.
