The scheme's proposal received approval during a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Under the newly approved Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yojana, women aged 60 and older are entitled to free, lifelong travel on all Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses following the state Cabinet's decision on Tuesday.

UP Transport Minister Daya Shankar Singh briefed reporters, noting that over one crore women are set to benefit from the initiative. He explained that eligible passengers can access the service simply by presenting their Aadhaar or Voter ID cards.

The scheme's proposal received approval during a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
