France to simulate Mumbai-style attacks in security exercises

PARIS: Simulated attacks and hostage-taking will take place across Paris on Monday in order to test French security forces' ability to handle attacks like last month's assault in Mumbai, officials said.

Several prominent sites in the French capital will be targeted in a day-long exercise announced by the Interior Ministry shortly after the November attacks in the Indian city that left 172 people dead, including nine gunmen.

One site in the central city of Lyon will also be hit, an official said.
