Fourth phase of polling begins in J&K

Polling began in 18 constituencies on a dull note due to the biting cold.

SRINAGAR: Polling began from 8 am on Sunday in 18 constituencies for the fourth phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections on a dull note due to the biting cold.

Authorities have tightened security to ensure smooth polling and in view of the recent militant attacks at Sopore area in Baramulla district in which two persons were killed.

So far, security forces have found no untoward incidents in the past 24 hours near areas where polling are being held.

Of the 18 constituencies going to polls today to decide the fate of 256 candidates, seven segments are located in Baramulla district, five in Budgam and three each in Udhampur and Reasi districts.
