Four policemen were injured in an attack of mob in Assam’s Lakhimpur district

The incident took place on Thursday evening place at Pandhua Kuet area under Naoboicha police station in the northern Assam district where a mob gathered at a mosque after Iftar attacked the security personnel by pelting stones.

Guwahati: At least four policemen were injured in an attack of mob in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

The incident took place on Thursday evening place at Pandhua Kuet area under Naoboicha police station in the northern Assam district where a mob gathered at a mosque after Iftar attacked the security personnel by pelting stones.

A senior police official who did not want to be named told ET, “Police asked the mob to disperse however when mob did not relent police had to use mild force. The officer-in-charge of Naoboicha police station and three other security personnel were injured in the mob attack. A police vehicle was also damaged in the attack. Mob has resorted to stone pelting. ”


He added, “Situation is under control and we are ensuring that lockdown is maintained.”
