Four persons, all members of an NRI family were killed in a horrofic car crash on main highway when a motorist drove head-on into them.

LONDON: Four persons, all members of an NRI family were killed in a horrofic car crash on main highway when a motorist drove head-on into them, police said on Tuesday.

Accountant Lakhdip Nagra, 27, and his sister Navjit, 28, were killed along with their mother Inderjit, 48, and their uncle Chain Singh, 66, when a driver did a U-turn on the motorway in Bedfordshire.

The family were driving home to Bexleyheath, south London, in their Jaguar after a family event in the Midlands, police said today.

All four died at the scene after being smashed into by Mariusz Adamski's Volkswagen passat. Polish-born Adamski, 24, who lived in Leicester, was also killed in the crash.

Police believe he may have become confused at seeing roadworks which narrowed the Mi down to a single lane. Postmortem examinations were held on Tuesday.
