BENGALURU: Karnataka Lokayukta police have registered four more FIRs against BJP vice president B S Yeddyurappa and others for alleged illegal denotification of land in and around here during his tenure as chief minister.

With the fresh cases, the total number of FIRs registered against Yeddyurappa for alleged illegal land denotifications has risen to seven, a Lokayukta official said today.

"The former Karnataka Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa, has illegally denotified land in various parts of the city including Banashankari, RMV, Mahalaxmi Layout, Banaswadi and HBR Layout," a Lokayukta official said.

Other accused in the cases are former MP G S Basavaraj, former MLA Nandish Reddy and some government officials, the official said.

The FIRs had been registered based on the complaints by social activist Jayakumar Hiremath.

The denotifications (cancellation of a notification of intent to acquire land) had taken place between 2009 and 2012 when Yeddyurappa was the chief minister.

On June 19, the Lokayukta had registered three FIRs against Yeddyurappa for illegally denotifying land in JP Nagar and Bilekahalli in the city.

After the complaint was filed by Hiremath in 2014, the case was referred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for preliminary inquiry, the official said.
