Four-lane flyover to decongest silk board junction delayed
The Rs 134 crore project, which was initially targeted to be ready in 2020, will also get grants from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.

“We have re-tendered the project to ensure more contractors take part in the bidding,” confirmed Ajay Seth, managing director, BMRCL.
The four-lane flyover, which is to be built along the metro corridor from Ragigudda and Silk Board, is expected to drastically cut down travel time of motorists who currently spend more than 20-30 minutes to cross the junction. The elevated road gives direct access to Electronics City, BTM Layout, Marathahalli and HSR Layout.
BMRCL had floated a tender for the project in April this year. Only URC Construction and ITD Cementation India bid. During the technical rounds, sources said the BMRCL disqualified URC Construction as the corporation felt “the company would not be able to take up the project on its own”. The tender was cancelled as only one bidder was qualified.

Asked why not many construction companies were coming forward to take up the project, a contractor said the BMRCL estimate was too low. “The real estimate of the project is not less than Rs 200 crore but BMRCL has put it at Rs 134 crore,” he said.
The Rs 134 crore project, which was initially targeted to be ready in 2020, will also get grants from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. The last date for submitting bids for the fresh tender is August 28.
It will be 20m Wide
The elevated road is 8m above the existing road level. Metro line is at 16m height. It’s a four-lane road with 20m width. The road consists of four loops with a ramp: towards Electronics City, from BTM Layout to Electronics City and HSR Layout, towards HSR Layout, from HSR Layout to Jayadeva Hospital, HSR Layout to BTM Layout.
